Descriptions of Plastic Resins

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)

Polyethylene Terephthalate, or PET, is a strong and lightweight plastic resin. It closely resembles glass in clarity and takes colorants well. PET is shatter-resistant, slightly flexible and easy to recycle. PET is typically produced in clear, but can also be done in colors such as green and amber. This type of plastic is used for strength, impact resistance, clarity and barrier resistance to things such as moisture, oxygen and many chemicals.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

High Density Polyethylene, or HDPE, is a rigid and tough resin. HDPE has very good stress crack resistance and has a high impact and melt strength. The natural state of HDPE is a cloudy, slightly translucent color. It does not absorb moisture and has good chemical resistance. HDPE is one of the most popular resins for molding bottles and containers.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

Polyvinyl Chloride, or PVC, is a commonly used plastic. PVC containers offer high levels of clarity, chemical resistance, and durability. It is a great choice used for household goods such as soaps and cleaners, chemical and personal care items. Normally clear, PVC has an outstanding resistance to water, alcohols, concentrated acids, and alkaline’s.

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

Low density polyethylene, or LDPE, is translucent in color with a tough, waxy texture. LDPE is a very flexible plastic with good barrier properties, and is a popular choice for dispensing bottles due to its excellent flexibility and the fact that it is virtually unbreakable.

Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene, or PP, is a thermoplastic polymer best known for its flexibility and versatility. It’s most popular use in packaging is for closures. PP can be made in a variety of colors, and is very tough with a good chemical resistance.

Polystyrene (PS)

Polystyrene, or PS, is a very clear, rigid plastic. Polystyrene has good chemical resistance, but is brittle and tends to crack easily. It protects against moisture and maintains its strength and shape even after long periods of time.

Other

Can be any combination of plastics. Usually one of the above plastics mixed with an additive or barrier plastic to enhance the properties of the final container.

Caps and closures are sold separately, due to the wide variety of closures available. Our team of experts will help you find the perfect cap for your container.

Do you have a price list?
